Job Description Our Client, A leading national brand established to market and distribute petroleum products and supply a wide range of allied products and services is looking to recruit a Technical Services Superintendent for their Sharjah based operations.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
Key Responsibilities
  • Manages and supervises the Technical Services Section which provides comprehensive centralized engineering support for all sections within the Gas Operations Department. Services provided include but are not limited to the following main areas - Forward Maintenance Planning, Plant records, Technical Documentation, Modifications & Project Work, Contracts, Purchasing / Stores Stock Levels, Quality / ISO 9000, Safety, Loss Prevention and Security.
  • Manages the activities of assigned personnel. Performs supervisory duties and exercises financial and technical authority at the level established by management for this position.
  • Acts as overall co-coordinator of activities associated with forward maintenance planning and job preparation, including major maintenance, overhauls, day-to-day routine maintenance and defect repairs. Liaises with Operations Section on specific operation / safety requirements, such as safety equipment, blanking procedures and equipment availability. Co-ordinates various discipline activities, including incorporation of any contractor involvement
  • Controls computerized systems associated with the Code of Practice on inspection of pressure vessels, safety valves, lifting equipment, rotating equipment and other safety related equipment. Produces updated monthly printouts including overdue / outstanding items and distributes to engineers concerned for information and follow-up. Monitors constantly the existing systems and submits proposals for improvement. Maintains historical records
  • Compiles develops and updates all Maintenance Procedures. Includes constantly reviewing procedures concerned with maintenance methods and frequency, contacting manufacturers as necessary, coordinating activities with procedure preparing and submitting revisions for approval and following up to conclusion
  • Develops and controls condition monitoring of rotating equipment. Includes monitoring key factors, such as vibration trends, quality of lubricating oils, temperature (bearing) trends, co-coordinating with other discipline engineers to gather additional data, compiling data, developing and updating computer program to reflect condition trends at a glance.
  • Co-ordinates and administers the “Plant Modification System”. Processes modification applications, organizes meetings, takes minutes, collects all documentation associated with modifications, such as procedures, drawings, radiographs, and ensures that all aspects of the procedure are satisfactorily completed prior to commissioning. Initiates updating of master drawings / records upon modification completion
  • Liaises with specialist and general services contractors to discuss requirements for safety and emergency type equipment, evaluates bids, recommends services and negotiates terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Co-ordinates the production of tender and other associated documents for externally completed projects. Provides technical clarifications to contractors, checking the technical specification, scope of work, drawings, commercial documentation… etc for clarity, accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintains, updates and develops the comprehensive library including the library tracking system, which contains all technical and commercial information, drawing, specifications, etc.
  • Co-ordinates and manages employee training programmes as agreed between departmental management and Head Office Training Department. Participates in the organization and delivery of ‘in house’ safety related training modules.    
  • Develops and monitors the departmental quality procedures and advises management on the implementation of systems to achieve and maintain ISO 9000 and other relevant quality standards. Represents the department on the Corporation’s ‘Quality Management Forum’. Carries out quality audits as required.
  • Designated as an “Inspection Authority”, responsible for the examination of pressure vessels at the Compressor Station and throughout the gas transmission system
  • Carries out the ‘Safety Officer’ function for the Gas Operations Department, managing safety inspections in accordance with standing instructions and carrying out safety audits on Permitry and Code of Practice procedures and documentation
  • Acts as an incident / accident investigator for all incidents which occur at the CS and throughout the network. Acts as Security officer for Gas Operations, managing security in accordance with standard instructions and represents the department at the Corporation’s Security Meeting.
  • Carries out other similar or related duties, such as co-coordinating breathing apparatus recharging / maintenance programme, undertaking special adhoc projects as assigned.
Key Attributes
  • B.Sc. in engineering discipline with 8-10 years broad based technical experience in a process/petrochemical environment.
  • Fluency in English. Arabic would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Project / Safety Management Skills.
  • Quality Assurance Procedures.
  • Maintenance Planning knowledge.
  • Statutory / Code of Practice Requirements.
  • Staff Development and Training.
Salary 18,000 AED
